How Can i create a FTP server from scratch? I am running windows vista businnes...?
okay, all i know is that you need a static ip address and i have one. i havent done anything yet. I have done nothing with the configuration of my router i have done nothing with control panel. i only have a static ip and a registered version of CUTE FTP PRO. I need to access my computers files from other computers.

it depends on your router type, but basically there are 2 methods
1- recommended method is to forward port 21 at the router to the pc that has the FTP server.
2- no recommended to put the ftp sever in DMZ, but then the router will forward all the unknown traffic to your server.
you don't need to do any thing on the vista except installing your FTP server SW and configure it ( add username and password, decide which folder will hold your files)
