Why do the subchannels on my DTV converter box look distorted?
I have a magnavox DTV converter box hooked up to my 1991 Emerson analog TV. The picture looks good except for the subchannels (The SD Channels). When something moves fast on channel 12.2 (Like a college football game), I get a huge distortion of squares following the camera. It's kind of like a blur, but it's made up of pixels. 12.1 looks perfect when something moves. What is going on? Why do all the SD channels on DTV look like crap and the HD channels look good? Plz help me out.
That's just compression. It's most notable with fast moving images like you said. Nothing you can do about that. Channel 12.1 is allocated for a high quality program, which is probably why it looks better.
