Where to get a wifi receiver?
MY grandma has just got the internet with sky and they got a free wifi router BUT not a receiver, just a cable, the problem is the wire doesn't reach the PC so i wanted to know where to get a receiver from.
I also have a D-Link receiver at home, will this work
Their router is a Sagem one.
you want a wireless network adapter one way or another
They come in several forms ( use same chipset in different forms)
If you have a laptop - a pcmcia card slot adapter or usb
If you have a desktop then a built in slot pci version of a wireless adapter , or a usb wireless adapter
There are three different bands
- b ( oldest , still way faster than your internet connection)
- g ( a souped up b) both use the same frrquencies as standard cordless phobes
- the newest "n" only if you have vista and need it for the install
just get a stanard run of the mill g wireless network adapter
all should work. You do not need the same brand as the router . all will work
