How to I hook up my Turtle Beach XLC to my Sanyo 26 inch HDTV through the audio jack?
I see the audio jack but when I plug it right in, the sound still plays through the TV and not the headset. It works just fine through the splitter cord provided by Turtle beach but it can be louder through the audio Jack. Does this only work with HDMI cords?
Most TV's will turn off the speakers when you plug something into the headphone jack. It appears that yours doesn't. The only thing you can do is try to turn down the volume on your TV as much as possible--though this will likely decrease the volume of the headphone jack too.
As an alternative, you can also think about getting a Turtle Beach DSS surround sound processor. This will give you full Dolby 7.1 surround sound and power the XLC as well. This will allow you to turn off the TV speakers altogether.
