MY SONY KDF 60XBR950 MELTED THE AREA AROUND THE BULB?
MY SONY LCD KDF60XBR950 CAUGHT FIRE AROUND THE BULB.IT MELTED THE COVER AND THE INSIDE . HAS ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM
The only rational reason I can think of is that the bulb cooling fan had quit. Do you have any idea if it did? No matter if it did or not, consider carefully the thoughts below.
The first item is: is it still under warranty? If not, you may have one of those wierd deals apply that are similar to car recalls. This falls under the heading of a safety issue. You probably should report the incident to the consumer product safety commission.
This has probably happened before; if enough people report it Sony may have to recall it and refund money to people. They may also have to cover your repair costs. You may be in a situation where you can demand your money back by refusing to continue to use a dangerous electrical device.
Is this starting to sound interesting? Look, that's a $4000 piece of now worthless equipment, I would put the heat under their butt, but that's just me. What do you think?
