Bracket Fits

I want to fit disc brakes but my bike doesnt have the correct bracket. What can I do?

My bike does not have the correct bracket to fit disc brakes on the rear and I really dont want to fit them to the front wheel only. Is there anything I can do?

You have to check for two things before thinking on using disc brakes. One is the frame (for the rear brake) and the other the fork (for the front brake). And the other are the wheels themselves.

On the fork, and frame, there should be two sets of places to screw the caliper, and on the wheels you should see six holes on the hubs where you screw the discs. If your tires don't have the six holes, you would need to consider a new wheel, or at least a new hub. If your fork don't have the tabs, you could replace the fork, which is also costly. If your frame don't have the rear tabs, then there's nothing you could do safetely. Some people out there have welded some hardware to make it fit, but in my opinion it's not that safe.

If you only want to put a front brake, which is what I think you want to do, you would only need to consider the fork and front wheel.

It will be a little costly, so think if it's worth it or not.
