What is the point of getting a digital converter box?
What is the point of getting a digital converter box if the TV already has built in NTSC, ATSC, and QAM tuners?
If your television is analogue you can watch TV from any analogue source; cable, Dish, or DirectTV. If you want to watch a local station using an antenna, you will have to use a digital converter box. It contains both a receiver for a different frequency and an A to D converter (analogue to digital). The new digital stations are actually in a physically different part of the spectrum than the old stations.
